The app is not that great, tbh. The messages are not always sent instantly, if you close it, it doesn't seem to continue sending it, and it might make the hierarchy of messages messy after it's successfully sent (date time randomness). There are also no notifications when someone reacts, or even when someone send a message. If you change your phone, the process of installing and having everything on the new one is not great as well considering the already existing options out there.

I've used Threema for years for select chats but am moving more fully to Signal now, after Threema disappeared from my phone overnight, made me pay to reinstall, and lost all of my history. I had a couple old backups and had saved the backup password, but it was not recognized. I'm sure Threema Safe is great but without an automated solution, data will be lost, and I can no longer trust that the data will stick around until I back it up locally for a phone swap.
